One-Wall Handball in St. Paul - Courts dedicated in 2019

One-Wall in St. Paul - UPDATE

06/25/2019

PLAY BALL!!!

PLAY BALL!

The courts are now playable!!  Thank you all for helping to make Outdoor Handball in the Twin Cities a reality!  Please note the following:

- During this week, patching and painting of the wall will take place; the courts will be temporarily unavailable for up to two days.  Landscaping around the courts will also take place this week.

- Clayland Park is a residential community.  Please be respectful:  Watch noise and language.  Maintain the cleanliness of the area.  Spread out parking so that spaces are available for residents, especially on the south side of the park (Hewitt Ave.).

- This project would not be possible without the support of the local Hamline-Midway community.  As local kids (and adults) come by the courts, take the time to show them the game and give them court time.  Share the courts!

LET’S PLAY BALL !!

ONE WALL HANDBALL UPDATE:  APRIL  5, 2019

Construction of the two One Wall Handball courts at Clayland Park, St. Paul is scheduled to take place this May, with completion expected within 60 days.  By the end of July, we hope to be playing outdoor One Wall Handball!

There will be two back to back courts facing east-west in the park.  The front wall will be 20 feet wide by 16 feet high.  The surface will be asphalt, 16 feet from the front wall to the short line; 9 feet from the short line to the long line; and 16 feet extending beyond the long line.  The surface area will extend 6 feet on either side of the courts.  All dimensions are subject to budget and construction considerations.

Many thanks to all who have contributed to making this project a reality, with special acknowledgement  to Scott Sayer, the Minnesota State Handball Association, the Midway Mens Club, Paul Frerichs and Frerichs Construction, Mitch Lallier, Curt Schlenner, and Greg Taylor.

See you on the courts in July!

While we have the basic funds to complete construction, you can still contribute to the project:

Send to:

Your contribution is 100% tax advantaged under the MSHA’s 501c3 plan, as the MSHA has waived admin fees for the plan.

IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME.

Richfield Parks Department approves for Minnesota Handball players to improve this facility allowing us to clad the walls to the regulation One Wall height of 16 feet.

This is just the first stage of what could eventually become a 6 to 8 court handball facility.

“Occupy Bloomington Street,” “Just for the Wall of it,” and “The Richfield Ball Bashers” are just a few of the corny names thrown around over the past summers at Christian Park in Richfield. The park is located at the 6800 block of Bloomington Ave. So. in Richfield and the regular day of play is Sunday starting at 2:00 p.m.

Not quite sure if One Wall handball is for you?

That's fine, just come on down on Sunday afternoons to see what it is all about. You may want to bring your gear though, because you will quickly see how much fun it can be.
