U of M takes Twin Cities League Championship

The University of Minnesota team took top honors defeating the Midway YMCA 26-7 in the 2016-2017 Twin Cities Handball League Championships held March 4 at the University of Minnesota Recreational and Wellness Center in Minneapolis.  It all came down to the #1 Doubles match as Mike Gustafson and Tim Kappes defeated David Miller and Ray Miller 21-19, 11-21, 11-7 in a barn-burner of a match.  Scottie Moler won the #1 singles for the U of M defeating Jay Johnson 21-4, 21-1.  Michael Miller took #2 singles for the Midway defeating Jim Van Thomme 21-14, 21-17 and Josiah Hakala defeated Phil Kleineschay 21-8, 21-14 to take #3 singles for the U.

The Trouble Boys took third place by defeating LifeTime - 98th Street 21-12 and the Skyway YMCA defeated the River Rats 24-9 to take 5th place.  SALTy secured 7th place.
