Only one's top four point acquisitions count, and points from "regional" tournaments may not exceed points from Minnesota tournaments. ("Regional" also refers to Nationals, Worlds, and Pro Stops whether held in Minnesota or a neighboring state/province.)

If the number of players in an Open division (P) is fewer than 8, the ranking points (R) from that event will be reduced proportionally (R x P/8).

Any unplayed matches among the top eight finishers in a local tournament (e.g. foregoing a "7th Place" match) or top four finishers in Nationals, Worlds, or a Pro Stop entails a split of remaining points to the players in question.

The number of players who drop from the quarter-finals to the consolation bracket in a local tournament typically determines how many places the consolation bracket determines: no places if the number is zero, only 5th place if the number is one, 5th & 6th place if two, 5th to 7th if three, and 5th to 8th if four. Players eliminated in the quarter-finals who do not participate in the consolation bracket then split the remaining points of places not determined by the consolation bracket, unless one of the following applies:
(a) another drop-down bracket/round-robin/match is sanctioned to determine remaining places or
(b) a player who places in the consolation bracket was defeated in the round of 16 in the main bracket. In this case, the player who defeated them in the round of 16 is placed above them and they move down at least one place.

  • e.g. There is a 10-player bracket which entails that the consolation bracket determine two places (typically 5th & 6th). Player A defeats Player B in the first round (a.k.a. round of 16) and then loses in the quarter-finals; Player C also advances from the first round and then loses; B becomes the runner-up in the consolation bracket (typically 6th place) and C defeats A in a playoff (typically for 7th & 8th place); therefore C will be awarded 6th place, A 7th place, and B 8th place, because of head-to-head performances within this bracket (C > A > B).
