Women's points are earned at tournaments which offer Women's Open.

  • This is expected to preclude the North Dakota State, Manitoba Open, Northshore, and Rudy Harris tournaments from factoring into the women's field.

Women who play in both men's and women's divisions at the same tournament may earn men's points only for their men's division performance and women's points only for their women's division performance. Women who play in only Men's Open or A may earn men's points and, provided there is consensus that they are above all Women's Open entrants,* will receive points for Women's Rankings as follows: Champion's points (C), plus one-tenth of C multiplied by the number of places above Women's Open among women.
*Without the aforementioned consensus, women who enter only Men's Open or A will not receive points for Women's Rankings.

  • e.g. Two women play in Men's Open and one plays in Men's A at State Singles (C = 2000). The higher placing woman in Men's Open is determined to be 3 places above Women's Open among women and receives 2000 + 3*2000/10 = 2600; the next woman receives 2000 + 2*2000/10 = 2400; the woman in Men's A receives 2000 + 1*2000/10 = 2200.

In case a Women's Open is offered but not held, Women's Open players from any prior Minnesota tournament in the same ranking year set the bar for a theoretical Women's Open in the tournament in question. Women who perform below the level of such bar-setting players may not be awarded Open points. Within the ensuing year, theoretical Open players may set the bar in case another tournament offers Women's Open but it is not held. Players in age-based divisions are ineligible to receive ranking points or factor into a theoretical Open.
