2016 Back In The Courts Handball Tournament

Greg Taylor, Mat Langhorst, Kristina Langhorst

Newlyweds Mat and Kristina Langhorst traded in a honeymoon for a handball tournament and they both were division winners at the Life Time Fitness “Back in the Courts Handball Tournament held at the 98th Street Club, Saturday, September 24, 2016.  Co-sponsored by Rollga.com (best foam roller on the market) and Life Time Fitness Bloomington South, all players got their fill of handball and hospitality.

The Division I finals was a grueling match between Mat and David Miller.  Both David and Mat displayed their conditioning and athleticism with phenomenal gets and volley’s.  It seemed as if David was going quickly win the first game as he jumped out to a 15-5 lead.  Mat fought back to 20-20.  The only time Mat had the lead in the first game was when he scored game point.  The second game was similar with David coming out on top 21-18.  The tiebreaker started out with several exchange of serves but Mat’s marathon stamina led him to victory 11-3.

The division II finals was another crowd pleaser as Kristina Langhorst defeated Tennessee native, Dale Campbell in a close tiebreaker.  Dale won the first game and appeared to be in control.  However, this tournament is an Ironman (or in this case, Ironwoman) tournament and Kristina matched Mat’s superior handball conditioning (it must be a newlywed thing).  Kristina got in her groove and won the second game and tiebreaker.

Division III featured more great matches.  The final match was between Greg Taylor and Jason Rush.  Taylor’s tournament experience proved to be too much for Jason and completed the trifecta.  Mat, Kristina and Greg are all members of the Skyway YMCA handball team.  This could be the year of the Skyway Y as Mat, Kristina and Greg dominated the Back in the Court Handball Tournament.

Special thanks to all players who supported this handball event. Also, many thanks to Rollga.com for supplying the awards and Life Time Fitness for hosting.
