2011 MSHA Masters Doubles

2011 MSHA Masters Doubles

Minnesota State Handball Championships
Masters Doubles Handball
Central Courts, Columbia Heights, MN
March 4-5, 2011

In what turned out to be the last state tournament at the Central Courts, a small but dedicated group to gathered to contest the Masters (40+), Super Masters (60+) and Diamond Masters (70+) Minnesota State Handball Doubles titles.  The Masters division was organized into an A/B drop-down arrangement to accommodate the wide variety in capabilities of the players and still create competitive matches.  Everyone had a great time and we all saw some very good matches at the end of the tournament.

Tim Labey, Steve Johnson,
Paul Dorland, Mike Wells

Losers in the first rounds of the Masters A division dropped into the Masters B division

Phil Kleineschay, Tim Fichtel,
Mike Black, Mike Burke

Gary Rohrer, John Nett,
Clancy Mylan, John Miller

Don Krocak, Arnie Wells,
Jim Boyd, Paul Ernster

Shortly after the tournament about 80% of the participants and guests came down with chills and a fierce fever.  The health Department called it a suspected case of Pontiac Fever – a close relative of Legionnaires Disease.  Everyone recovered within a few weeks but no one will forget the “Handball Fever.”
